Princes Gate does IRONMAN

It’s the new year! It is commonplace in today's world to shake things up in the new year and set yourselves some goals. Be it read more books, take up a hobby or the all-time classic exercise, every year people flock to the gyms to challenge themselves through physical endurance. What we want to talk to you about this month however is no ordinary test of fitness. We want to talk about the holy grail of fitness, the challenge of champions, the crème de la crème of athletic endeavours, IRONMAN Wales!

2020 sees the most difficult Triathlon in Wales reach an incredible milestone and turn 10 this year. The triathlon itself is a gruelling combination of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) run, raced in that order. I just got tired typing that out… Despite how daunting the challenge seems hundreds of competitors flock to the event to showcase their grit, determination and drive to succeed. IRONMAN Wales is such a popular and prestigious event for the athletes that this year’s tickets were completely sold out within the hour! But where is it you may ask? Well, that’s where we come in.

The event itself is held in the (sometimes) sunny coastal town of Tenby a location which is right outside our front door. Which is why we are honoured to be sponsoring IRONMAN Wales on their 10th Birthday. The PG family will be there cheering on every competitor as they take on this herculean challenge. Alongside our loud enthusiastic support, we will be bringing as much water to the event as its thirsty competitors can handle to help them reach the end of an incredible event. Let’s also not forget all the recycling bins we'll be whacking around the event. As much as we love seeing you enjoy our water, we adore recycling just as much so please help us keep Tenby clean.

We’ve also assembled a crack team of athletes who will be taking on the IRONMAN and competing in Princes Gate colours. These fine human specimens will be raising money for our yet to be announced charity and we can’t wait to see them cross that finish line. Alongside these guys and gals are some of our staff who couldn’t resist a challenge. They have put their names forward to represent PG and support our soon to be announced charity! The two brave individuals from our house of water are Calum O’Connell one of our Engineers and alongside him is Morgan Lewis an Operator. We will be catching up with all of the competitors for Team PG soon to see how their training is going and to discuss their goal of conquering the IRONMAN.

We hope to update everyone soon with more exciting news and progress of our PG team athletes so keep an eye out. We also look forward to announcing what charity the Princes Gate team will be raising money for this year so keep an eye out on our social media platforms. Make sure to prepare your cheering voice and mark those calendars because this year’s IRONMAN Wales is sure to be a big one and we can’t wait to see you there.
